Q: How is TourSolver any different than the routing in MapPoint?
A: MapPoint allows you to optimize a sequence of points in an itinerary for one vehicle. TourSolver optimizes routes for multiple vehicles without having to pre-allocate the points to a specific vehicle. Furthermore TourSolver takes over 60 constraints and parameters into account while calculating cost-effective routes.
All route optimization calculations are performed by TourSolver with the ability to view multiple routes in MapPoint.
Q: Can TourSolver plan routes in advance? A: Yes. TourSolver can calculate optimal routes days, weeks or months in advance.
Q: Can TourSolver take the capacity of my trucks into account to make sure my deliveries will fit? A: Yes.
Q: My customers have specific times of the day when they want to receive a delivery. Can TourSolver handle this? A: Yes.
Q: I would like a tool to plan sales calls well in advance. Some customers need to be visited multiple times per month or per quarter. Can TourSolver plan optimal routes for my sales force? A: Yes. TourSolver can plan and optimize sales calls for your sales force taking the visit frequency, appointment length, appointment time (if fixed) into account.
Q: I operate vehicles that are too tall or too heavy to travel on certain roads (they cannot follow passenger vehicle routes). Can TourSolver help me with my truck routing? A: Yes. In the U.S. TourSolver includes Truck Attributes as part of the street network it uses. TourSolver will take into account the height and weight restrictions (plus others) to ensure your trucks can actually drive the routes.
Q: My deliveries change daily. Can TourSolver do this and provide driving directions? A: Yes. TourSolver can handle dynamic routing applications and output turn-by-turn driving directions.
Q: Some of my routes require my employees to spend nights out during the week when visiting rural customers. Does TourSolver make them return to their starting point every day? A: No. TourSolver does not make you return to the office or depot every day. It can accomodate routes where it makes more sense to spend nights out on the road due to drive-time, cost or distance from the office or depot.
Q: We have urban and suburban customers. Can TourSolver take traffic jams into account and plan optimal routes so that my trucks won't be sitting in rush hour traffic? A: Yes. TourSolver can take traffic data (optional) into account so that your fleet will be more productive by avoiding congested areas at different times of the day.
Q: How is TourSolver licensed? A: TourSolver licenses are based on the number of vehicles in your fleet or operated on your behalf. There is a one-time license fee for the software and an optional annual update fee which includes software updates and street network update.
Q: Is there a free TourSolver demo? A: Yes. There is a self-running TourSolver software demonstration which you can download for free here.
